Lizzie Williams is the CEO of “Healing The World With The Word,” located in Northport AL, and is a Money & ME certified trainer. She has taught over nine Money & ME classes since December 2016. Over the last three months, she has lead two Money & ME classes.
The first class, held in January 2019, consisted of nine individuals who heard about the Money & ME class simply through Facebook or word of mouth. These 9 had never come to a class or been associated with Healing The World With The World previously. How exciting to see social media being used for good!
Then on the first weekend of March, Lizzie held another class which consisted of the youngest group she has ever taught. She taught 6 young adults whose ages ranged from 19 – 26 with one of those six being married with a child.
These young adults were amazed to see how much money they spent in a day, a week, and even a month. With incomes ranging from $1,000/month to $4,000/month, they were excited to learn about money management and how they could personally pay down their debt. Over the past 3 years of teaching Money & ME classes, Lizzie has learned many tips and tricks in teaching Money & ME classes.
She has learned to incorporate what is being taught with handing out door prizes. For example when talking about taking responsibility for your own actions, the door prizes consist of mouth wash, toothpaste, a toothbrush, laundry detergent, or cereal.
- Normally, she has classes in the morning and provides lunch and snacks to those participating. For the first time, she held a Money & ME class in the afternoon (1:00 – 4:30 pm). This eliminated the need to provide lunch and only needed a snack which saved her money – thus “practicing what she preaches.”
- She prefers a class size of 6 – 7 people but says “Don’t worry about the numbers. You are making an important impact in the lives of those coming to learn.”
