Last month, August 2025, I received a fabulous opportunity to provide a “Mini Money & ME” to young adults in Farmington, New Mexico. This was a collaboration between the Eleventh Judicial District, The Farmington Library, and myself! Young adults who have had life challenges have been referred by a judge to this program. The purpose of this program is to help these individuals navigate the judicial system, stabilize recovery, and help with housing (if needed). They also help these individuals with education which may include getting a GED, going to college, life skills and financial literacy. That’s were Money & ME came in! The library offers many programs and asked me to specifically come to Farmington to provide this program. The participants were outstanding and extremely engaged. Their probation officers also attended and shared that this was the most engaged they had seen and were thrilled with the results. It was exciting for me to see the Money & ME curriculum do it’s “magic” by being simple, practical, and effective. It meets people where they are and inspires them of what they can become. The probation officers met with the participants a week later and asked them what they thought. The participants shared that they all loved it and got something out of it. Thank you to the Farmington Library for sponsoring this great opportunity.
