Money & ME in North Carolina!

Common Heart, a grassroots movement in Union County NC, started in July 2006 with the simple desire of four friends to bridge the gap between our faith and concrete practical demonstrations of God’s love. This group grew behind the scenes and was hidden for years. Many new friends joined to serve, love, and grow.

Last year, they decided to add Money & ME to teach financial literacy to people in the community.  Sandy Reid, the Economic Empowerment Manger for Common Heart, completed the online training and began teaching.  They began in January and just like everyone else, did not realize that the classroom teaching style was going to end and virtual learning platforms were going to become the new method of education.  However, Sandy was willing to do whatever needed to be done to help others. Classroom teaching changed to utilize Zoom.  Participants would come pick up their workbooks and kits at the office and then sign on with Zoom.  They decided to do two sessions for three hours and continue to help those in the community.  Before the shutdown, they took this photo.  Sandy is inspired to help others and is working on writing books of social and economic empowerment with conversations with her daughter. One book in particular is to help empower women to find the woman in them.  Join us next Thursday, April 29, at 6 PM Eastern, 5 PM Central, 4 PM Mountain, and 3 PM pacific to talk more about Money & ME and how you can help others learn to take control of their money and their lives!  It is a google virtual meeting.   Video call link: https://meet.google.com/wxs-hqhc-qvm
