The Salvation Army has been transforming lives since 1865! This Christian Church began in London and has been working worldwide for more than 150 years. The Albuquerque program is very committed to helping people and has many programs.
Recently, Major Raewyn Aspeitia, the Albuquerque & Counties Coordinator, connected with Sara Money, the Developer of Money & ME to offer a program to the men living in their housing facility. For three weeks, Sara taught a two hour session for the men. The discussions and “aha” moments were numerous. One of the hardest moments was when one man added up how much he had spent on alcohol and cigarettes in his lifetime….it was almost $50,000. The realization of adding up daily expenses and how much it costs a year is difficult, but then they each multiplied by how many years they had been drinking. Each person is now sober and excited about his potential. They want to improve relationships with their friends and family and that includes paying back money owed. The last activity of the program focuses on how to be successful with your relationships. One of the participants wisely said, “I need to talk less and listen more.”
Thank you Salvation Army for all that you do to TRANSFORM LIVES. Money & ME is grateful to be part of this great movement!
